Saxophone, Clarinet, and Flute Lessons
At Grosse Pointe Music Academy, our woodwind lessons for saxophone, clarinet, and flute are a perfect fit for students of all ages and skill levels. Even though many schools offer group band programs, private woodwind instruction provides students with a major advantage—helping them advance faster, build stronger technique, and gain more confidence both in and out of the classroom.
Our woodwind lessons aren’t just for kids! Many adults who once played an instrument in school find tremendous joy in picking up their saxophone, clarinet, or flute again. Saxophone Lessons
The saxophone family includes a range of sizes, with soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone being the most common. In school bands, the alto saxophone is typically the starting point for young players. Whether you’re interested in jazz, classical, or modern styles, private saxophone lessons can help you master tone, technique, and expression.
Clarinet Lessons
The Bb clarinet (often simply called “the clarinet”) is the most popular and widely used type, especially in school bands. Like the saxophone, the clarinet is a reed instrument known for its versatility and rich tone. Our clarinet lessons help students strengthen their embouchure, breathing, and finger technique while developing musicality across a wide range of styles.
Flute Lessons
The concert flute (C Flute) is the most commonly played, offering a bright, clear sound that’s essential to many ensembles. Students may also explore instruments like the piccolo, known for its soaring high notes. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your technique, our flute lessons build strong fundamentals, tone production, and expressive playing.
