Grosse Pointe Music Academy (“we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through our website, forms, booking system and communications, and how we use and protect it.

Information we collect

We collect information you choose to give us, such as when you fill out a form, request information, register or book lessons, apply for a job, or contact us by phone, text or email. This can include your name, email address, phone number, address, the student’s name and age, instruments of interest, availability and any message you send.

When you visit our website, some information is collected automatically, such as your browser type, device, pages viewed and how you arrived at our site. This is done through cookies and similar tools (see “Cookies and analytics”).

How we use information

• To schedule and provide lessons, classes, camps and recitals
• To respond to questions and requests
• To send lesson reminders, schedule updates and closure notices
• To process payments and manage accounts
• To share news about our programs, if you’ve chosen to receive it
• To review job applications
• To understand how our website is used and improve it

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run the academy, and only as needed for them to do that work. These include:

• Pike13, our scheduling, booking and payment system. Payments are processed securely through Pike13 and its payment processors; we do not store full card numbers.
• Website and form tools, including WordPress, Gravity Forms and Google reCAPTCHA (which helps block spam).
• Email providers, and Emitrr, the service we use to send and receive text messages.
• Google services used on our site, such as analytics, maps and reviews.

We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our students, staff or others.

Text messages (SMS)

If you give us your mobile number, we may text you about lessons, scheduling, closures and replies to your questions. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help.

We send and receive text messages through our messaging provider, Emitrr.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the categories of sharing described in this policy exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including Google tags, to measure visits, understand which pages are helpful and measure the results of our advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some features may not.

Embedded content and outside links

Some pages include content from other services, such as YouTube videos, Flickr photo albums, Google Maps and Google reviews. Those services may collect information under their own privacy policies.

Some product recommendations link to retailers such as Sweetwater or Amazon. Some of these are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy through them. We’re not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites.

Children’s privacy

Many of our students are children. We collect information about students under 13 from their parents or guardians, not directly from children, and use it only to provide our programs. If you believe a child has sent us personal information without a parent’s consent, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

How we protect information

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from loss, theft and unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

Your choices

• You can choose not to provide information, though this may limit some services.
• You can unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email, and opt out of texts by replying STOP.
• You can ask us to update or delete your information by contacting us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed.
