Music Together Free Demo Classes

EXPERIENCE MUSIC TOGETHER FOR FREE

Why just read about a great activity to with your young child – come experience the “joy of family music” at Music Together of Grosse Pointe! We offer mixed-age licensed Music Together classes at the Grosse Pointe Music Academy. Our classes meet for 45 minutes, once a week for 10-week semesters in Fall, Winter and Spring. We offer 6 week Summer sessions as well. Mixed-age classes are birth – 5 years old, which creates an environment of family music-making that includes siblings. Every child is musical – which means every adult is musical too! When you join a free demo Music Together class, you’ll sing, chant, move, play instruments and dance just as we would in our weekly classes. Your model of simply participating with joy is very important to your child’s development. Plus, as you model, you’ll have fun, relax, and enjoy the process of making music with your child.

These demo classes will also allow parents to learn a bit more about early childhood music development and how music is learned by the brain. Our knowledgeable teachers will include “Parent Education Moments” throughout the class activities to briefly explain what is happening musically in the child’s development through the lesson. Many children are so busy watching when they come to a demo class that they may not outwardly participate. This is expected and also encouraged, children teach themselves music, and they know the right time to step in and the right time to listen. Music is learned like a language is learned, so lots of listening – to live singing – is very important and key before participating themselves. This is a good reminder to parents to begin singing at home, no matter how they feel about their voice, instead of purely “consuming” music by playing recorded music. Children connect most powerfully to the  singing voice of the ones who love them and care for them.

Music Together classes give parents professionally recorded, high-quality at home materials. Each family receives a songbook complete with beautiful illustrations, lyrics and lead sheets to all class songs, 2 CDs, and Parent Guide DVD to early childhood music development. The Music Together curriculum includes nine song collections, so children will experience new music and activities each semester they enroll. Class sizes are a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 children, and any number of adults are welcome to attend with each child.

We would be glad to have your RSVP to one of our upcoming Free Demo Music Together classes. Fall Classes begin September 20th and Free Demos are being held August 29th – September 14th at certain class times. Please call (313) 458-7723 to RSVP or check the registration link on our website for fall class times. See you soon!
