Starting this fall, Canton Music Academy will offer 60-minute group guitar lessons!
Group lessons are a fun, engaging, and affordable way to begin your guitar journey. Classes are available for two age groups: ages 8–12 and ages 13 to adult.
Our group guitar classes will focus on essential guitar skills, techniques, chords, songs, and group practice. Students who actively participate in class and practice at home will steadily build their performance ability and musical confidence.
Who Should Join?
- Complete beginners or those with limited experience will benefit greatly from group instruction.
- Returning players who have not played in a while will also find this course helpful.
- Dedicated students who already have a daily practice routine may wish to consider private lessons for a faster, more individualized pace. (Intermediate students interested in group performance opportunities should contact us directly.)
Students are welcome to bring an acoustic guitar, electric guitar, or nylon-string classical guitar.
In this course, students will become familiar with:
- Reading standard notation and tablature
- Playing chords and reading chord charts
- Learning major and minor scales
- Developing rhythm and lead guitar techniques
- Understanding basic song structure
Our experienced guitar instructors will assess each student’s strengths and areas for improvement to offer tailored guidance within the group setting. Students who show strong advancement in specific areas may be encouraged to pursue private lessons for more personalized instruction.
While we primarily focus on modern guitar instruction styles—such as rock, pop, country, blues, jazz, and contemporary music—students with classical guitars are welcome to join. (Those wishing to study classical guitar specifically should inquire about private instruction.)

Canton Music Academy – Now Open!
We’re excited to announce that Canton Music Academy, a new campus of Grosse Pointe Music Academy, is now open and serving Canton and surrounding communities!
