Meet Our Music Together Teachers
By Sarah Boyd, Director – Music Together of Grosse Pointe
At Grosse Pointe Music Academy, we are proud to offer the internationally recognized Music Together® program led by highly qualified and passionate instructors. All of our teachers undergo comprehensive Music Together training and bring with them a wealth of musical experience, including formal college music education. We invite you to meet them in person at one of our free demo classes!
Emily Schienke
Emily holds a Bachelor of Music Therapy degree from Eastern Michigan University, where she studied voice as her primary instrument and performed with the university choir at Carnegie Hall in New York City. In addition to her vocal background, she plays guitar, percussion, and has experience with flute from her early school years.
For over eight years, Emily has worked as a board-certified music therapist with children and young adults experiencing a wide range of developmental differences, including autism, Down syndrome, Williams syndrome, and various cognitive, speech, and motor delays. She has also taught piano to both neurotypical children and those with special needs.
Now a registered Music Together teacher and a proud mother of three young daughters, Emily brings warmth, creativity, and experience to every class. She believes deeply in the power of music to create lasting bonds within families. As Emily puts it:
“I’ve seen firsthand the joy and connection music brings to families, both in my work and in my own home. That’s what drew me to Music Together®—it’s a beautiful way to foster meaningful family music-making.”
We are thrilled to have Emily on staff and look forward to continuing to grow our program with her and all the wonderful families who join us.
Come experience the joy of Music Together—we’d love to welcome you to a free demo class soon!
