Grosse Pointe Music Academy in Canton Township is offering free early childhood music demo classes for families with young children. The upcoming sessions will be held on:
- Tuesday, January 10th at 9:30 a.m.
- Thursday, January 12th at 10:30 a.m.
These free demo classes are designed for children from birth through age five, along with their parents or caregivers. This is a great opportunity to experience the benefits of a high-quality, research-based early childhood music program.
As a long-time guitar instructor primarily working with students ages 9 to 15, I’ve noticed a clear trend: students who participated in music classes as toddlers often show stronger listening skills, better rhythm, and a more intuitive understanding of pitch and melody when they begin learning an instrument later. These early experiences provide a powerful foundation that supports future musical learning.
After researching and comparing several popular early childhood music programs, I found one in particular that stands out for its use of diverse musical styles, rhythms, and tonalities. This program introduces young children and their families to music from cultures around the world and encourages active participation through movement, singing, and rhythm-based activities. Each class includes professionally recorded music and a beautifully illustrated songbook, making it easy for families to continue the musical experience at home.
One of the most helpful aspects of this class is that it welcomes mixed-age groups, allowing siblings to attend together—eliminating the need to enroll in separate age-specific classes. This format supports both social and musical development in a relaxed and supportive group setting.
If you have a child under age five and would like to explore music together, this free demo class is a wonderful opportunity to try it out with no obligation.
To reserve your spot in the demo class, please call Grosse Pointe Music Academy – Canton at 734-667-4983. We’d love to see you there and help your child begin a lifelong relationship with music.
