At 80 years old, legendary music producer Quincy Jones is proving once again that his influence goes far beyond the recording studio. In a recent article by Brittney M. Walker for EURweb, Jones shares his excitement about a new music learning platform he’s co-developed with Chris Vance, called Playground Sessions.
Designed with a Rosetta Stone-style approach, Playground Sessions helps children and adults learn to read and play music, starting with the piano. The software includes lessons built around popular songs by artists like Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, and even classic hits from legends like Frank Sinatra. The idea is to combine fun with fundamentals, giving users an interactive and inspiring path to music literacy.
Jones, who famously produced “We Are the World” and worked with icons like Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, and Aretha Franklin, sees Playground Sessions as a much-needed tool in American music education. “Our kids in this country know less than any other country,” Jones said. “We need something like Playground Sessions to push us forward.”
We applaud Quincy Jones for continuing to advocate for music education. His legacy isn’t just built on gold records and Grammys—it’s also rooted in his commitment to passing the power of music to the next generation. As a music school, we couldn’t agree more with his message.
