Group Lessons or Private Lessons???

Group music instruction is typically for beginners looking to learn the basic fundamentals of their musical instrument before committing to a more disciplined format of private lessons.  Obviously, students will always get more attention in a one-on-one teacher student setting but group lessons function very well for people new to their instrument.  Currently Grosse Pointe Music Academy is offering group instruction for Guitar and Piano.  Eventually we will expand to offering group instruction for violin and other instruments as well.  Our Guitar and Piano Group classes are available for various age groups so that people can learn with their peers and get age specific instruction.

Private lessons are also very good for beginner students.  Some people prefer to have the one-on-one instruction right from the start.  We currently offer private music instruction for Guitar, Piano, Bass Guitar, Drums, Violin, Voice, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, and more.  Private lessons are typically once per week for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes per lessons.  Children under the age of 10 usually start off with 30-minute lessons but older students can take any of the three options.  30 minute lessons provide enough time to make strides but 45, and 60 minute lessons will give the student added critique and repetitions with the presence of the teacher.  Students who have had prior training in their instrument should always take private instruction unless the class is specific for students with experience such as Rock Band Classes and Guitar Ensemble.  Descriptions of these classes are available under the Music Instruction menu on this site.  Our teachers are capable of working with students of all ages (Yes we teach adults!) and playing abilities.  They are people that are passionate about their own musical practices as well as teaching.

Grosse Pointe Music Academy is 10 minutes or less driving time from Detroit, Harper Woods, St. Clair Shores and Eastpointe.  Start your group or private lessons today!
