Noteflight – A Recommended Tool for Music Notation
by Henry Bahrou – Guitarist, Music Theorist, Music Academy Director
For musicians and educators looking for a convenient way to create and share sheet music, I highly recommend exploring Noteflight. It’s a browser-based music notation platform that I personally use, and it’s proven to be both user-friendly and powerful.
One of the key benefits of Noteflight is its accessibility—because it’s entirely online, there’s no need to download software or worry about ongoing updates. It works on any modern web browser, making it an excellent option whether you’re at home, school, or on the go. Users can create scores, listen to playback, and print or export music as PDF files. With the ability to embed scores on websites or share via direct links, it’s also great for collaboration and presentation.
While the free version is suitable for many users, the premium version offers extended functionality, including unlimited scores and additional features designed for advanced users, educators, and composers.
At Grosse Pointe Music Academy, we’ve partnered with Noteflight to offer long-term subscription options at a discounted rate. If you’re interested in accessing a multi-year subscription or have questions about integrating Noteflight into your lessons or teaching practice, feel free to reach out to us.
Music notation doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Tools like Noteflight make it easier than ever to bring your musical ideas to life.
